Achieving a work-related life balance can seem impossible at times. Typically the biggest mistake we make is not making ourselves a priority and it costs us our health and happiness. Today Barbara Cox P.H.D. has some advice to help us achieve that work-life balance we have been searching for.

Women’s roles in society have changed dramatically in the last 40 years. Once considered mainly “homemakers,” women are now significant contributors to the workforce.

In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor reports that in 1975, 47.4 percent of mothers with children under the age of 18 were in the workforce. As of 2015 that number had skyrocketed to almost 70 percent. The short timeframe in which this trajectory occurred has created significant cultural challenges for women.

One of those is a lack of societal-support mechanisms to help with work-life balance.
